A PNW engagement is almost always about the region's natural beauty. These sites are some of our favourites in the world, and are notable for their unparalleled geographical features and their insanely romantic atmospheres.

Lighthouse Park

Lighthouse Park is what it sounds like: a gorgeous park on Vancouver's north shore with a sweet lighthouse and a beautiful view of the city itself. Lighthouse Park is the perfect place to take a picnic and catch the sunset. A romantic date that doubles as the perfect proposal site.

Whytecliff Park

Whytecliff Park is one of Vancouver's most famous sites, and it's easy to see why. It's easily one of the most beautiful places in the world. Rich tidal pools and craggy rocks dotted with flowering shrubs and twisty Arbutus trees with gorgeous views makes the perfect site for a fun and flirty climb up a cool rock formation with a proposal picnic waiting at the top.

Wreck Beach

Wreck Beach is Canada's version of Cannon Beach. It gazes westward straight into a beautiful sunset, and is quiet, and isolated with towering trees along the beach. The only thing to consider is the stairs it takes to get down (and back up), and the consideration that Wreck is a clothing optional beach. Take a bottle of wine and your running shoes down, find a nice secluded spot, and pop the question. You didn't hear it from us, but you can usually have a small campfire too.

Rent a Sailboat

When in doubt, take to the seas! Places especially like Vancouver and Vancouver Island are best known and surveyed from the waters that surround them. Rent a sailboat for a few hours (the captain is included, nine times out of ten) and set a course underneath the Lionsgate Bridge, or in between the Southern Gulf Islands. Be sure to watch for Orcas.

Crescent Beach

Crescent Beach in White Rock is one of the best possible places to watch the sunset. Grab an ice cream cone from a nearby shop and set up with a blanket to catch the views, and finish the big proposal night with a cocktail party at nearby Charlie Don't Surf with your families and best friends. It's a combination that can't fail.

Alouette Lake

Alouette Lake boasts some of the most bucolic landscape views that Canada has to offer. Gaze through the valley over still, glassy waters and listen to the sound of nearby waterfalls and water foul as you pop the question at one of many gorgeous view points. Be sure to bring picnic goods and a camera.

Tofino

If you're a surfer, this option should be obvious to you. If you have no interest in surfing, it should probably still be obvious. Chesterman Beach is another gorgeous Cannon Beach-esque haven: beautiful rock formations with silky smooth sand and crashing waves mingle with periodic fogs that roll in from the ocean. You could probably get away with a small beach fire here, and if you're along in off-peak seasons, you'll probably have the entire beach to yourself. Perfect for that private but epic proposal.

Edith Point on Mayne Island

Mayne Island is one of B.C.'s best kept secrets. Even in peak season, it's generally quiet, and is a fabulous place to relax and catch some sun. It's also a perfect vantage point for whale watching and getting to know the local seals. Edith Point is a beautiful 40 minute walk, with some rock ledges to traverse, out to a point above a quiet pastoral cove. There's rarely anyone at the edge of the point, so it's a perfect place to pop the question.

Minnekhada Mountain

Minnekhada Mountain delivers amazing views for an easy 40 minute walk. The High Knoll is the place to be—take lunch with you and wander up mid morning for an easy noon arrival. There are lots of places to eat at the top and the views span the better part of the lower mainland. It feels so removed from the hustle and bustle of the Tri-Cities, and is rife with towering trees. 

The PNW is basically defined by its beauty, so you can't go too wrong with any of these options!
