The Evorden Process: From Appointment to Heirloom

Appointment

Here at Evorden, our showroom space is open by appointment only, giving you ample time to have a personalized, one-to-one experience. You can book an appointment to view our engagement, wedding, or vintage/everyday collections, and one of our specialists will provide the space and time you need to explore.

We will consider things like budget, metal type, stone options, customization, timeline, and much more! We are ready to help you whether you're coming in just to browse, or if you're ready to start designing your own custom ring (or anything in between!)

You can book an in-person or virtual appointment here to discuss your design.

If you are ready to purchase one of our designs already on the website, there are only a few steps to follow. From the ring's product page, use the drop down menus to select and customize your ring. Ring options include: metal type, ring size, engraving, and the gemstone(s) of your choice.

Once you have selected the desired ring options, it's time to add the ring to your cart and continue to checkout. Be sure to double check all of the information you enter, especially your contact information and address! If you're planning to surprise your partner, consider shipping the ring to your workplace or a trusted friend rather than your shared home! Enter your payment information and any special instructions to complete the transaction. Once payment has cleared, production of your ring will begin!

It will take 6-8 weeks for us to craft your ring. If you have any questions or concerns, or if you need a rush the production of your ring, please let us know! We will do everything we can to accommodate your timeline and are happy to answer all of your questions.

Stone Sourcing

Following your consultation, we will provide you with a quote for your design and begin sourcing any specific gemstones or diamonds you may be wanting to use in your custom piece. If you're new to the world of gemstones, or are overwhelmed by all the possibilities, then have no fear—one of our specialists will be there to answer any questions you may have.

Once we've decided on the type of stone, we will begin the sourcing process. If we do not have your desired stone in-house, then we will reach out to our suppliers to source your perfect stone. Once we've gathered a few options, we will send high-quality videos via email. If you prefer to come see the stones in-person, we would be happy to book you in for a 'Stone Viewing' appointment!

Custom CAD Rendering / Wax Try-On

If we're customizing your ring, we want to make sure you're happy with the design before we start the production process.

This is where CAD software(a 3D rendering program) comes in handy! Using the best technology available, our in-house goldsmith and CAD artist will begin the process of turning your dream concept into a tangible reality.

During this time, we will seek your approval at each stage of the process so that you are well-informed and absolutely in love with the sourced materials and the final design.

Wax Mockup

When we've finalized the design, we use a 3D printer to create a wax mockup. During this stage of production, we invite you to come try-on your wax mockup to get an idea of what your design looks like on your own hand.

Production

Once the design process is complete, we can begin physically making your ring! Using the 3D printed wax mockup, a mold of your ring is created. This mold is a negative of your ring. The metals used for rings are often received as rounded crumbs, called casting, or rolling grain. We purchase these by the gram. The casting grains are then heated until they liquefy, and are then poured into the mold, where the metal solidifies.

The casted ring then goes through a series of sanding and polishing processes. Next, the stone(s) you selected are set: one by one, carefully, perfectly. The prongs of the casted ring are bent over the stones to hold them securely in place. The ring is polished one last time, cleaned, and thoroughly checked over.

When your ring is completed, it will be shipped (or available for local pickup) along with any applicable appraisal (included for rings valued at $1000 CAD or higher) via DHL Express or Purolator Express. Once your ring is in transit, we will provide you with the tracking number so you can monitor its progress until it arrives safely.

Resizing

All Evorden rings come with a complementary resize within the first year of purchase. This way you have plenty of time to decide if the size is right for you. If you do decide to resize your ring, you simply book a 15-minute ‘Service Drop Off’ appointment, and one of our specialists will help you choose the right size. The resizing process typically takes two weeks time.

Cleaning & Polishing

Our rings also receive complimentary cleaning and polishing every two years. Polishing involves cleaning and shining the stones and metals. We will also ensure the stones are all still securely set. There is nothing we love more than a perfectly polished engagement ring, and we would love to restore your ring to the shine it had the day you purchased it! Our full cleaning and polishing service takes approximately two weeks time. Book a 15-minute ‘Service Drop Off’ appointment to redeem this service.

To keep your ring sparkling like new (everyday!), you can clean it regularly from home as well. We recommend giving your jewellery a thorough at-home clean at least once a month. All you have to do is fill up a bowl with hot water, a drop of dish soap, and put your piece(s) in and let them sit for a few minutes. Then, give your jewellery a swirl around (we recommend using a chopstick!). If your pieces have stones in them, take a soft-bristled toothbrush and give the stones a gentle but thorough brush to remove any excess grime.

In-store Cleaning

If you feel your jewellery needs some extra care, but you don’t have time for a full cleaning and polishing service, you can take your piece to us (or a local jeweller if you aren’t in Vancouver) and have it run through an *ultrasonic cleaner.

*Please Note!  If your ring features an emerald, pearl, moonstone, opal, morganite, sunstone, or basically anything that isn’t a sapphire, diamond or moissanite, do not put it through the ultrasonic cleaner as it could potentially damage your stone.
